Director
Libby leads our vision to catalyse nature recovery at scale across Sussex and beyond. She oversees the Foundation’s strategy, programmes and outreach, bringing a background in journalism and a passion for social innovation, community action and powerful storytelling. When not running the Foundation, she can be found on her smallholding, foraging, photographing nature and raising her wilding daughters.

Bonnie develops and delivers the Foundation’s fundraising strategy. She is passionate about communicating Knepp’s rewilding impact and working in partnership to support nature recovery at scale. Bonnie has a background in international fieldwork and research, and holds a PhD in zoology.

Gareth (Garth) develops partnerships and networks to deliver farmer- and community- led nature recovery across Sussex. His passion for nature recovery began in Sussex’s streams, rivers, and coastline. Outside of work he is often found running across the downs or paddling down the river in his kayak.

Alex originally joined Weald to Waves to map the corridor and now manages the team. He organises everything from coordinating collaboration with partners across Sussex to conducting site visits with farmers. When he’s not managing the team, you can find him carrying out ecological surveys.

Mathilde (Tilly) provides guidance and highlights opportunities to farmers and landowners on managing their land to balance productivity, profitability, and nature restoration. She brings experience spanning agri-environmental policy and hands-on conservation, with a focus on collaborative approaches.

Amy supports local communities to join Weald to Waves and take action in their gardens and greenspaces to provide stepping stones for wildlife across Sussex. She has a background in education and the charity sector. She also volunteers at Knepp with visitor engagement, practical tasks and supporting the White Stork Project.

Sam supports communications, community initiatives and ecological reporting, working closely with landowners and partners. He is also involved in our species recovery initiatives. Outside the Foundation, he enjoys spending time photographing wildlife and observing nature in the field.

Holly leads the 100 Mile Classroom, which links young people and schools with local nature restoration projects, skills, and opportunities across the Weald to Waves corridor. She brings experience working with rewilding projects across the globe, journalism and broadcasting, and circumnavigated the world without flying.

Ryan coordinates all educational and youth focused activities at the Knepp Estate and supports youth engagement initiatives along the Weald to Waves corridor. As an active member of several conservation groups across Sussex, he can often be found rescuing bats, protecting toads and surveying small mammals.

Ned inspires young people to connect with nature through hands-on activities and mentorship. As a Young Guide, he leads educational visits and activities at Knepp Wildland. He’s also active in local scout groups, fostering outdoor skills, teamwork, and environmental awareness in the community.

Laura collaborates with organizations such as Cotswold Wildlife Park, the Roy Dennis Wildlife Foundation, Wadhurst Park, and international partners through the European Stork Villages Network. She monitors and analyzes storks, compiles reports, coordinates the annual Stork Festival, boosts project engagement, and oversees volunteers.

Becca supports the project through care, monitoring, and data collection. She also engages the public, coordinates outreach activities, and fosters community involvement. Outside of work, she’s a keen birder, often exploring Sussex with a pair of binoculars in hand.

With a degree in biology and experience in charity communications, she is passionate about sharing realistic hope and inspiring action. Charlie inherited the 3,500-acre estate from his grandparents in the 1980’s and is the inspiration behind the Knepp Wildland Project. Beyond Knepp, Charlie is deeply involved in large-scale conservation efforts.

Married to Charlie Burrell, Isabella is an award-winning author of six non-fiction books, including the 2018 Richard Jefferies Society Literature Award-winning book Wilding: the return of nature to a British farm that was voted in the top ten science books for 2018 by The Smithsonian and made into a major motion picture in 2024.

Helen has been a trustee of the Foundation since February 2022. She brings experience of campaigning, movement-building, public engagement and influencing work to the Board, drawing on experiences at the National Trust, Rewilding Britain, RSPB and her current role as Executive Director of The Climate Coalition.

Dave, a founding trustee of the Knepp Wildland Foundation, has a background in accountancy and previous trustee experience with the Sussex Wildlife Trust, alongside his current role with the Western Sussex Rivers Trust.

Tony Whitbread is a Trustee of the Knepp Wildland Foundation and a long term supporter of the Knepp Wildland project. Previously CEO of the Sussex Wildlife Trust and now its president, he is also a Trustee of the Western Sussex Rivers Trust and the Friends of the South Downs.

India joined as a trustee in 2025. Her professional background is as a lawyer advising founders and entrepreneurs on raising capital and managing their businesses. She has a keen interest in rewilding and regenerative farming and is thrilled to have joined the team.
